Are you from vernacular medium or english?..this has become a redundant question in today's India...of course,we are from the english medium!..The question is are you SSC(The old horse),CBSE(Slightly high status),ICSE(whatever that means) or IB(International! Are you serious?)...The poor old pioneers..the people who gave India the image of a 'brainy' nation were all educated in vernacular medium..obviously in SSC or CBSE if their father had a job which involved frequent transfers..but now..everyone is in english medium..in CBSE..IB..etc..does being in a school teaching you an international syllabus really make a difference? Yes, it obviously does..if you are going to be on an international platform when you grow up..
If you are going to be at the same level or stage as the child who studied in the state board in his mothertongue..what's the use? He,in fact may have an advantage of knowing a language..which you probably won't know..
If you are an Indian..a Maharashtrian,Gujarati,Malayali..you are being given that identity..which is a priviledge..which others mayn't have..won't your identity be lost..broken..damaged..due to you being unaware of it? When we had to fill up our HSC exam forms..people were startled to discover that they were required to fill their names in Devnagari as well as English..isn't this a shame?
