Quiet

Have you ever listened to the quiet? The absolute, scary quiet in which we are forced to hear our thoughts..our conscience?..Many of us are always listening to some music..some outside noise..some commotion..we are aware, yet unaware of it..there's a sense of being connected..being a part of..this world..i can hear a dog bark..d incessant droning of the fan as I write this..ther's is a feeling..knowing that I don't have to hear myself think..maybe,I won't like what I hear..maybe I don't want to hear whatever it is..and am more interested in what the outer world has to say..We always try to follow what someone perceived as the-guy-who-knows-more-about-this-than-me types...we end up being on par with the other thousands of his/her followers..and we are happy..after all,we are not in the bottom half, right? But what if,this same guy tells you that listen to yourself..will you?..and,what if, you stop being on par with others, but overtake them? Again, here you have to block out all the sound from outside as well as inside..that mindless chatter which goes on in your brain..and really focus..your conscience is a little timid..he will only speak when he thinks that no-one is paying attention..now, you will hear it..the brilliant idea..which suits you fine..uttered by your conscience..

Irrelevent & irreverent

I don't know how, but the
years have passed.
Don't know how,but we are
still together.
Don't know how,but you still
love me
& wonder of wonders, I still
believe you.

Bittersweet nothings

Are you from vernacular medium or english?..this has become a redundant question in today's India...of course,we are from the english medium!..The question is are you SSC(The old horse),CBSE(Slightly high status),ICSE(whatever that means) or IB(International! Are you serious?)...The poor old pioneers..the people who gave India the image of a 'brainy' nation were all educated in vernacular medium..obviously in SSC or CBSE if their father had a job which involved frequent transfers..but now..everyone is in english medium..in CBSE..IB..etc..does being in a school teaching you an international syllabus really make a difference? Yes, it obviously does..if you are going to be on an international platform when you grow up..
If you are going to be at the same level or stage as the child who studied in the state board in his mothertongue..what's the use? He,in fact may have an advantage of knowing a language..which you probably won't know..
If you are an Indian..a Maharashtrian,Gujarati,Malayali..you are being given that identity..which is a priviledge..which others mayn't have..won't your identity be lost..broken..damaged..due to you being unaware of it? When we had to fill up our HSC exam forms..people were startled to discover that they were required to fill their names in Devnagari as well as English..isn't this a shame?

The follow-up

What's up with the title? Follow-up to what? Well,it's a follow-up to a fine tradition of mine..being sarcastic about teenage love stories..this is a much-talked-about-&-discussed topic..relax..am not going to talk about the drama associated with this..but the aspect of peer pressure..follow-the-crowd mindset..just because everybody else is doing it, we need not..or the other way round, as nobody's doing anything, we should also be exactly the same..I remember watching a movie called 'the island' starring Scarlett Johanson...it had characters who were exactly like each other..there was no way to distinguish them..do we want to become carbon copies of each other? No,everybody wants to be special..appreciated..but nobody wants to do anything differently..
People say that following the crowd is easy..all you have to do is walk blindly...imitating the steps of the person in front of you..but when you think logically..creating your own path or just following a different path than others is also easy..after all, when you are on a less-trodden path, nobody expects you to perform miracles..in fact, they all expect you to fail..somehow or other..
So,the only one expecting anything or knowing when & where you have failed or have come short is yourself..
Don't you think that standing tall amongst your self-doubts & self-recrimination is easier & more satisfying than being of the same height amongst other hundreds?

First Blood

You all must be thinking what's with the 'namesake'?...why is a book's/movie's name taken as a sign? Actually, it's a play on the word-namesake..I took it as for name's sake..that is..have to give a name..so therein lies the inspiration.
Just to clarify..haven't read the book..saw the mmovie..my take..Tabu was fantabulous..as usual..
When you are known as a bibliophile..someone who writes poems, articles..whose vocab is good..who's into lit..people expect you to have a blog..People who do have blogs tend to display the same stuff which we can find on their facebook/orkut profiles too..I guess this is coz people are afraid of critisism...when they know that something is good..they publish it..
We almost never get to hear their thoughts..All of us are curious as to what goes on in the minds of the poets, writers, novelists near us..what makes them write?..what exactly do they have that makes them tag a few words together & make sense..beauty..art out of them? The words they write 'say' something..make us think..wow..how come when I put the same words together they don't sound so good?
We are always a little bit in awe of these people who can make the words dance to their own tunes..like magic..when they put something together..it makes us glad that we are human..that we can enjoy & maybe understand what they mean..so, here's to these 'awe-some' & 'awe-inducing' beings..
I guess this is it for now, ciao!
